Do you need a new lawn or do you want to renovate your old lawn? If so, then let One Degree provide you an instant sodded lawn. Sod is lower maintenance than seed and will prevent erosion control instantaneously. Bermuda, Zoysia, and Fescue are the main grasses grown in sod that are best suited for Northeastern Oklahoma. Below you will find some valuable information about these grasses.
What type of sod do I need?
Bermuda: Bermuda sod can be planted year round and needs 8 hours of sunlight per day in order to perform at its peak. It is the most widely used Sod in Oklahoma due to its aggressive, fast spreading growth habit. Bermuda can be planted year round but is established quicker if planted in the spring or summer.
Zoysia: Zoysia will tolerate more shade than Bermuda but it is by no means completely shade tolerant. It needs at least five hours of sunlight per day in order to perform at its peak. Zoysia spreads slower than Bermuda and is best planted from April - November.
Tall Fescue: If you only have two to three hours of sun per day on your lawn then Fescue is the grass for you. Fescue is a cool season grass: therefore it is best to install in the fall. It can be installed in the spring but it is likely that you will need to overseed it in the fall.
